In collaboration with reverse.studio, Forster Stahlküchen and Impact Hub Ticino, we submitted a project idea for the Circular Building Industry Innovation Booster. The idea of developing an MVP to facilitate the reuse of kitchen components using AI matching received funding of CHF 20,000 after it was reviewed. AI matching is designed to recognize real images and compare them with a digitized data set that can be queried via a user-friendly search mask. By developing this AI-supported platform, we are making an active contribution to the circular economy.

A second life for used kitchen components

The aim of our initiative is to reuse kitchen components efficiently. At present, it is often only possible to buy complete kitchen sets. With our MVP, we offer the option of specifically selecting individual used elements. Our specially developed AI matching recognizes kitchen components in real images and compares them with a digital catalog. In this way, suitable replacement parts or supplementary components can be suggested – a crucial step in extending the service life of valuable materials. In addition, the need for new purchases can be reduced and the amount of waste and associated CO₂ emissions reduced.
